Bulldogs bash past Wolverines in non-conference clash

Burns scored seven runs in the third inning and six more in the sixth to defeat Polk County 15-3 in Wednesday’s non-conference baseball game at The Bottoms.

The Bulldogs (16-3) extended their winning streak to six games while the Wolverines dropped to 13-8.

Polk County took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Noah Harden walked and scored on an RBI single by Nate Fagan, and Alex Perry walked and scored on an RBI single by Aaron Jackson.

Burns responded with seven runs in the third inning to take control. Drew Dixon opened the scoring with a three-run home run, and Gage Camp added a three-run homer later in the inning.

The Bulldogs extended the lead to 9-2 with two runs in the fourth inning before Polk County answered with a run in the bottom of the frame. Gunnar Alm walked – one of his three walks in the game – and later scored on an RBI single by Perry.

Burns put the game away with six runs in the sixth inning. Mason Bralley delivered an RBI double and Dixon capped the rally with a two-run triple.

Fagan led Polk County at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Perry finished 1-for-4 with an RBI and Jackson went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Gavin Waldbillig started on the mound for the Wolverines and took the loss. Aaden Denton pitched in relief.

Polk County hosts Avery on Friday and will celebrate Senior Night during the evening.
