Brevard Middle spoiled Polk County Middle’s home baseball opener on Monday, defeating the Wolverines 5-1 at Polk County Recreation Complex.

The Blue Devils scored in three of the first four innings to hand Polk Middle (1-1) its first loss of the season.

The Wolverines scored their lone run in the sixth inning as Blaine Turner singled, stole second and scored on Alex Perry’s infield grounder.

Noah Harden finished 2-for-3 to lead Polk Middle, with Turner, Nate Fagan, Perry and Sawyer Huff each adding a hit.

Polk Middle is slated to be back in action on Tuesday, hosting Macon Middle at 4:30 p.m.
