
Brevard pulled away in the final innings Tuesday to hand Polk County an 11-1 setback in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference junior varsity baseball matchup at The Bottoms.
The Blue Devils improved to 11-6 with the win. The Wolverines fell to 3-11.
How it happened: Brevard held a 2-1 lead after three innings, but put together a three-run rally in the fourth and scored six runs in the fifth inning to take command of the game.
Polk County pushed across its lone run in the first inning as Bryson Hoots walked, then moved to second on a Piercen Edwards groundout. A passed ball and error allowed Hoots to move around and score.
At the plate: Peyton Hoots finished 1-for-3 and Nick Sotomayer was 1-for-1 as the Wolverines were limited to two hits.
Next up: Polk County closes its season on Thursday, traveling to Brevard for a 4 p.m. encounter.
