Brevard Middle scored four runs in the fifth inning to rally past Polk County Middle 5-2 in Thursday’s Blue Ridge Conference baseball game in Brevard.
Polk Middle led 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth, but Brevard (4-7) capitalized on four walks and two hit batters in the inning to take control. The Blue Devils tied the game on a wild pitch, then scored three more runs — one on a wild pitch, another on a passed ball and the final two on an error — to complete the comeback.
Polk Middle took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Callaway Cameron scored on a wild pitch. The Wolverines extended the lead to 2-1 in the fifth when Cameron doubled to center field and scored on Carter Wood’s RBI single to right.

Cameron paced Polk County Middle at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a double. Brantley Hall and Wood each had one hit, with Wood driving in a run.
Hall pitched three scoreless innings for the Wolverines, allowing one hit with six strikeouts. Wood pitched 1.2 innings in relief.
Polk County Middle (4-8) hosts Hendersonville Middle on Monday.
