Big inning lifts Landrum JVs past Polk County

Landrum used a nine-run third inning to key a 13-1 victory Friday over Polk County in junior varsity baseball action in Landrum.

The Cardinals held a 4-1 lead after two innings, but sent 15 batters to the plate in the bottom of the third, building the large advantage.

The game ended after Polk County’s at-bat in the top of the fourth due to run rule.

The Wolverines (0-1) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Karlen McEntyre walked, stole second and third and scored on Kendall McEntyre’s infield single.

Kendall McEntyre finished 2-for-2, with Cohen Edwards going 1-for-2.

Polk County is scheduled to be back in action on Tuesday at Patton.
