Casey Beiler’s two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning Friday powered Polk County’s junior varsity to a 4-2 victory over Madison in Marshall.

With two outs in the seventh and the teams tied at 2, Evan Jones singled. Jones stole second before Beiler drilled a 3-1 pitch to left field for the winning runs.

Polk County (2-2) grabbed a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth as Jones singled to open the inning, Beiler reached on an error, with Jones thrown out at second, and Bryson Jones legged out an infield single.

Angus Weaver followed with a triple to left field to drive in both Beiler and Jones.

Cohen Edwards earned the win, pitching three innings in relief and holding Madison scoreless on three hits. Kendall McEntyre started and pitched four innings, allowing two hits and two unearned runs while striking out four.

Weaver finished 2-for-3 and Evan Jones finished 2-for-4, with Beiler, Bryson Jones, Gabe Alvarado and Edwards each adding a hit. Alvarado and Evan Jones each had two stolen bases as the Wolverines stole seven bases on the day.

Polk County is back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Owen.
