Hendersonville scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally past Polk County 5-3 in Tuesday’s Western Highlands Conference baseball game at The Bottoms.
The loss dropped the Wolverines to 14-9 overall and 9-2 in conference play. Hendersonville improved to 9-9, 7-4 in the WHC.
Polk County had tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Aaden Denton walked, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on an RBI single by Noah Harden.

But Hendersonville regained the lead in the seventh. Charles Hulsey singled and scored on an RBI single by Will Bolyard, and Chaz Johnson later scored on an RBI single by Rutledge Pace to make it 5-3.
Polk County threatened in the bottom of the seventh when Cooper Meyer doubled with two outs, but the Wolverines could not bring him home.
Hendersonville took a 3-1 lead in the third inning. JaRon Ward singled and Hulsey was hit by a pitch before both runners scored on errors. Will Bolyard later scored on a steal of home.
Polk County scored first when Nate Fagan singled in the second inning and later scored on an RBI single by Aaron Jackson. The Wolverines pulled within 3-2 in the fourth inning when Matt Jarrett hit a fielder’s choice that scored Meyer.
Harden led Polk County at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Meyer finished 2-for-3 with a double, and Jackson went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Perry, Fagan and Zalen McCraw each added a hit for the Wolverines.
Harden took the loss, allowing seven hits with eight strikeouts.
Polk County travels to Hendersonville on Friday to close its regular season.
