Avery scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to rally past Polk County 5-3 in Tuesday’s junior varsity baseball game that was called after four innings due to lack of light.
Hunter Ollis delivered a two-run single in the fourth to give the Vikings the victory. Gabe and Spencer Pope scored on the hit, with Colton Wise thrown out trying to advance to third on the play.
Polk County led 3-1 after two innings. The Wolverines scored twice in the first inning when Drew Young was hit by a pitch and later scored on an RBI single by Acer Eadus. Oakley Whiteside added a run on a passed ball.

The Wolverines extended the lead to 3-1 in the second inning when Simms Harris scored on a passed ball.
Avery tied the game 3-3 in the third inning. Wyatt Davis scored on an error and Wise scored on a steal of home.
Young went 1-for-2 for Polk County, and Eadus finished 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Zayne McFalls pitched 3.1 innings, allowing no hits with nine strikeouts and eight walks. Davis Holbert pitched the final two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit.
Polk County (2-13) hosts Burns on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
