Apple Valley overcomes early Polk Middle rally

Apple Valley Middle scored 14 unanswered runs after falling behind 4-0 to defeat Polk County Middle 14-4 in Monday’s Blue Ridge Conference baseball game in Hendersonville.

Polk County Middle jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning before Apple Valley (3-0) responded with a run in the bottom of the first, four in the third, four in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth.

The Wolverines loaded the bases in the first when Brantley Hall and Callaway Cameron walked and Carter Wood singled. Wesley Turner’s RBI single scored Hall, and Lawson Yoder reached on an error that allowed two more runs to score. Reece Turner’s sacrifice fly brought home the fourth run.

Wood and Turner each collected one hit for Polk Middle. Turner added an RBI and scored a run, while Yoder drove in two runs.

Polk County Middle (0-4, 0-3 BRC) hosts Brevard Middle on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
