PolkSports.com is a site devoted to covering all levels of sports in Polk County, N.C. From high school to middle school to youth and community, it’s all Polk, all sports, all day long.

Founded in 2013 by Andy Rhinehart, PolkSports.com is now owned by Polk County Schools. The school district is one of the best in North Carolina, routinely ranked among the state’s top district in terms of academic performance and school safety. 

Rhinehart still serves as the site’s editor/publisher. He is a veteran journalist with some three decades of experience, first as a sports writer/editor and then as an online director. He worked for multiple newspapers in North and South Carolina and earned several N.C. Press Association and S.C. Press Association awards for sports writing and editing. He created GoUpstate.com, the Web site of the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, and led that site for 10 years, receiving numerous S.C. Press Association awards as one of the top newspaper Web sites in the state. He has also worked for The New York Times Regional Media Group, Digital First Media, Saxotech and Pew Research Center. He is currently employed as director of customer support with Parse.ly, a content analytics company.
