Wood’s homer helps power Polk junior varsity to win
Karli Wood’s seventh-inning home run snapped a 9-9 tie Tuesday and helped lift Polk County’s junior varsity softball squad to an 11-9 win over Mountain Heritage in Burnsville.
Ashley Ponder drove home Caitlin Davis with an insurance run to help the Wolverines improve to 2-1 on the season.
Caitlin Britton earned the win, and head coach Jeff Wilson noted the defensive efforts of Brooke Love and Hannah Burnett.
Polk County is back in action on Wednesday, hosting Smoky Mountain.
