Wolverines drop 1-0 decision in WHC girls soccer opener

Polk County senior goalkeeper Willow Arkell had two saves in Monday's loss.

Owen’s Kayla Rosman scored early in the second half Monday to lift the Warhorses to a 1-0 win over Polk County in a Western Highlands Conference girls soccer match in Swannanoa.

The Warhorses improved to 5-1, 1-0 with the win in the conference opener for both teams. Polk County dropped to 3-5 overall, 0-1 in league play.

It marked the fifth 1-0 game this season for the Wolverines, who are now 3-2 in those games.

Sara Muse had five saves and Willow Arkell had two saves for Polk County, which will travel Wednesday to Avery for another WHC contest.
