Wolverine tennis sweeps singles en route to topping Crest

Polk County's Ryan Heider earned a 6-0, 6-0 win Monday in his first singles match for Polk County.

Polk County’s new-look boys tennis team rolled to a 6-3 win Monday over Crest in the Wolverines’ home and season opener.

Polk swept all six singles matches to secure the match victory before the start of doubles play.

Team newcomers Ryan Heider and Henry Heider set the tone for the match with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Ryan Heider earned a 6-0, 6-0 win while Henry Heider captured a 6-1, 6-0 triumph.

Returning players Henry Monts (6-4, 6-1 at No. 3), Payton Stott (6-1, 6-3 at No. 4) and Seth Hardin (6-4, 7-6(8-6) at No. 6) joined another newcomer, Ethan Edwards (6-3, 6-1 at No. 5) with victories.

Crest swept the three doubles matches to account for the final score.

Polk County is slated to be back in action on Wednesday, hosting East Henderson in a non-conference match.
