Wolverine tennis squad tops Avery, Mountain Heritage

Trinity Branham had four wins in two conference matches this week.

Polk County’s girls tennis team tuned up for its final week of regular-season play with a pair of Western Highlands Conference victories this week.

The Wolverines topped Mountain Heritage 5-4 at home on Wednesday, improving their record to 12-4 overall, 4-2 in conference play. That win came on the heels of a 7-2 road victory on Tuesday at Avery.

Hannah Jenne (10-1), Bella Marino (10-7) and Trinity Branham (10-1) each won their singles matches Wednesday as the teams moved to doubles tied at 3. Jenne and Harris earned an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles and Marino and Branham claimed an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles to seal the match.

The Wolverines are now slated to host Owen on Wednesday, Oct. 5, then travel to Hendersonville on Oct. 6 to conclude their regular season. Hendersonville is currently undefeated in WHC play while Owen is in second.
