Wolverine quartet part of Thompson’s Region 8 State Games squad

Four Polk County Wolverines will be part of head coach Jamie Thompson’s Region 8 squad that begins play Tuesday in the 2017 Powerade State Games of North Carolina.

Rising seniors Haley Fowler, Maranda Gosnell, Autumn Owen and Karli Wood will be part of the squad representing counties west of Rutherford in the eight-team competition in Greensboro. Thompson is joined by Polk County assistant coach Jamie Hrobak as part of his staff.

Region 8 will begin West Bracket play Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Carolyn Allen Park in Greensboro, facing Region 6. A game against Region 5 will follow at 11:30 a.m.

Region 8 will then conclude bracket play on Wednesday, facing Region 7 at 9 a.m. Consolation and medal games will then be held at UNC Greensboro beginning Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
