Weather forces schedule changes for PCHS sports

The wintry weather that rolled through Western North Carolina this week has resulted in a number of schedule changes for Polk County High School athletics.

Among the games affected by the weather:

* Tuesday’s baseball and softball games at Mountain Heritage will now be played on Thursday at Polk County High School. The games set for April 7 between the two schools will now be played in Burnsville.

* The Western Highlands Conference golf match set for Tryon Country Club on Tuesday will now be played on March 30. The golf team’s event at Black Mountain Golf Club on Wednesday has also been postponed, with a makeup date to be announced.

* Wednesday’s soccer game at Mitchell has been rescheduled for Friday.

* Thursday’s softball game at Landrum has been postponed, with a makeup date to be announced.
