Undefeated Rugby tops Polk in home finale

The lone remaining undefeated football team in the Blue Ridge Middle School Conference, Rugby showed why Thursday its record remains spotless.

With size in its offensive and defensive lines that many high school teams would enjoy, Rugby (6-0) posted a 21-0 halftime lead. The Raiders then scored on their first possession of the third quarter before Shane Parris returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, cutting the Raiders’ lead to 27-6.

Rugby then added a late score for the final margin.

Polk County (2-4) hits the road next week for its final regular-season game, traveling to Hendersonville for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
