Trejo, local players help Rutherford team win soccer title

The 01 Men’s Rutherford Rumble Soccer Team, led by Polk County High assistant soccer coach Josh Trejo and featuring several local players, recently captured the U-16 1st Division Title in the Myrtle Beach Coast Spring Classic tournament.

The Rumble were undefeated in the tournament.

“We are very humbled over winning the title,” Trejo said. “The boys played in this tournament when I first started coaching, but we didn’t get the outcome we had hoped for. But to come back this year and win is a feeling myself or the boys can’t describe. My team has worked extremely hard this season and we would like to thank everyone for their support.

“We have always based our team around being a family, and this kind of commitment to one another is what made our success possible. I would personally like to thank God for this opportunity and for putting these boys in my life. They are a great team and I am so proud of them.”
