Strong performance lifts Blue Ridge golfers past Polk County

Polk County continued its early-season golf schedule on Monday, battling Blue Ridge, S.C. in a nine-hole match at Links of Tryon.

Blue Ridge posted a team score of 165 to win the match, with three of its four starters shooting a 41. Polk County finished with a team score of 196, led by Dillon Overholt’s 42.

Gabe O’Brien added a 50 while Josh Chupp and Hunter Lynch each had 52s. Also competing for Polk County were Tyrese Miller (54), Carl Campbell (56), Trey Thompson and Landon White (59) and Blake Rackley and James Smith (60).

For White, Thompson, Miller, Campbell and Smith, the match marked their high school debuts.

The Wolverines are slated to return to the links on Wednesday, facing Landrum in a match set for Links of Tryon.
