Polk County Middle School wrestler Evan Miller showed Saturday the value of hard work and perseverance.
Despite entering as the fifth-seeded wrestler in the 115-pound weight class, Miller placed second in the class at the Blue Ridge Middle School Conference wrestling tournament at Madison.
Miller knocked off both the fourth seed and the top seed in the class to reach the championship round.
The runner-up finish caps two years of development for Miller, who was winless in his 7th grade season. But the eighth grader battled hard all this season and was rewarded Saturday for his effort.
