Polk Middle sweeps Flat Rock, wins second straight

Ella Waldman had two service aces during a key second-set run Monday in Polk Middle's 2-0 win at Flat Rock.

Polk County Middle’s volleyball team earned its second straight win on Monday, handing Flat Rock Middle a 2-0 defeat in Blue Ridge Conference play in Flat Rock.

The Wolverines rolled to a 25-10, 25-18 victory. Polk Middle’s fifth quarter team also earned a 25-19 win.

Polk Middle (2-3) roared back from an early 4-0 deficit in the first set behind the serving of Adair Edwards, who reeled off 15 straight points to carry the Wolverines to a huge lead.

Flat Rock (0-6) took an early lead again in the second set and still held an 8-6 advantage when Ella Waldman served two aces as part of a 4-0 run to give Polk Middle the lead. The Wolverines then closed out the match, a key stuff block by Kayla Stechschulte on an outside hit helping secure the win.

The Wolverines travel Tuesday to Apple Valley Middle before returning home on Wednesday to face Waynesville Middle.
