Polk Middle softball thumps Apple Valley
Polk County Middle rolled to a 14-4 win Wednesday over Apple Valley in a Blue Ridge Middle School Conference game at Polk County Recreation Complex.
Tana Harris pitched her first complete game of the season in the win, keeping Apple Valley off the scoreboard for the first four innings.
Callie Burnett provided the key blow offensively, an inside-the-park grand slam in the third inning. Burnett, noted head coach Rachel McEntire, has also taken over catching duties for the team and has thrown out three runners at second in the past three games.
Polk Middle defeated Flat Rock 15-5 on Monday. In that win, Anna Hodge also pitched a complete game, and Morgan Stott and Ansley Lynch led the team at the plate.
The Wolverines wrap up their regular-season schedule on Thursday, hosting Rugby at 4:30 p.m.
