Polk Middle soccer building another winning streak

A two-game losing streak stopped Polk County Middle School’s undefeated run through the early part of its schedule. But the Wolverines are beginning to build another run of wins.

Polk Middle topped Asheville Christian Academy 2-1 on Monday and then came back Wednesday to earn a 4-1 at Brevard Middle, boosting the Wolverines to 6-2 on the season.

Grayson Jones scored all four goals in Wednesday’s win.

“We finally put two halves of soccer together,” said Polk Middle head coach Travis Aldred. “We looked very good. I’m very pleased with the team.

“We need to take it on into next week when we play all the (Henderson County) teams again.”

Polk County hosts Rugby on Monday, then has a key rematch with Apple Valley on Wednesday, also at home. All home games begin at 4:30 p.m.
