Polk County Middle School remains home to the best model bridge builders in the state, the school winning the North Carolina Department of Transportation Statewide Model Bridge Building Competition on Friday in Raleigh.

It marks the second consecutive year that Polk Middle has won the statewide event, in which teams must submit a written report, a drawing of their model bridge, an oral presentation related to bridges and then subject their bridge to load testing.

Polk County High School’s team placed fourth in the high school division, matching its best finish in the competition.
