Polk Middle outslugs Brevard Middle to snap streak

Nick Capozzi had three hits and pitched two innings in Monday's win.

Polk County Middle rapped out 14 hits Monday en route to a 10-7 win over Brevard Middle in baseball action at Polk County Recreation Complex.

The Wolverines (3-5) had five extra-base hits in snapping a five-game losing streak and avenging a 17-7 loss at Brevard earlier this season.

Nick Capozzi finished 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBI and Kaleb Kropp was 3-for-3 with three RBI. Shane Parris was 2-for-3 with two doubles and Daniel Ruff and Isaac Medford each finished 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Ruff also earned the win, allowing two runs in five innings of work.

Polk scored two runs in the first inning on a two-run single by Kropp that drove in Grayson Jones and Capozzi.

The Wolverines then exploded for four runs in the third. Jones and Parris walked to open the inning, with both scoring on Capozzi’s triple. Medford singled to drive home Capozzi, then later scored on Ruff’s infield grounder to give Polk a 6-2 lead.

The Wolverines scored four more runs in the sixth as Parris doubled and scored on Capozzi’s single. Medford then doubled to drive in Capozzi and scored on a Kropp double. Jonathan Edwards singled before Ruff singled to bring in the final run.

The Wolverines travel Thursday to face Madison Middle.
