An early deficit didn’t deter Polk County Middle School’s girls basketball team on Thursday.
The Wolverines rallied from an early 18-3 deficit to top Brevard Middle 33-25 in a Blue Ridge Conference matchup at Polk.
Making their home debut, the Wolverines rallied thanks in part to the scoring of Tori Thompson, who finished with 14 points, and Olivia Overholt, who had 11 points.
Lauren Dotson added four points for Polk County (1-1), with Sara Wilson and Deasia Green each scoring two.
“My girls never gave up,” said Polk Middle head coach Brian Taylor. “I’m proud of how hard they fought and really got after it.”
The Wolverines are back in action on Monday, traveling to Rugby for a 4:30 p.m. clash.
