Polk Middle girls at home, boys at Canton in tourney openers

Polk County Middle School’s girls will open play Monday in the Blue Ridge Middle School Conference Basketball Tournament, hosting Madison in a first-round game.

The Wolverines will begin their quest on Monday at 4:30 p.m., facing a Madison squad that finished third in the West Division.

Polk County’s boys will travel to Canton to face the West Division champion Bears. The two teams meet in the first game of the season, with Canton taking a 34-24 win.

The tournament semifinals are slated for Wednesday, with the championship games on Thursday. The highest remaining seeds will host each semifinal.
