Polk County Middle clinched a spot in the Blue Ridge Middle School Conference softball tournament on Monday, handing Apple Valley a 9-5 loss in Hendersonville.
With the win, the Wolverines (4-8) earned the fourth seed from the BRMSC’s East Division. Polk Middle will travel Thursday to face Macon Middle (12-0) in the opening round of the playoffs.
Kristen Hall and LeeAnn Bradley each went 3-for-4 to lead Polk Middle’s offense. Tana Harris added a 2-for-4 effort that included an inside-the-park home run.
Anna McFadden struck out 11 in earning the win.
