Polk Middle boys earn first win, girls continue victory streak

The hunt for victory is over for Polk County Middle School’s boys basketball team.

The Wolverines roared Tuesday to their first win of the season, routing Flat Rock 44-25 in Blue Ridge Middle School Conference action at Polk Middle.

Shane Arrington scored 19 points and Coby Lee added 12 for the Wolverines (1-5).

“We are excited to get our first win of the season and I’m proud of our boys for overcoming adversity of starting out the season 0-5,” said Polk Middle head coach John Rochford

“We brought in the New Year with our first win of the season and we hope it will build some momentum for the remainder of the season.”

The Polk Middle girls earned their third straight win with a 20-16 triumph over Flat Rock.

Bre Kenan scored 13 points to lead the Wolverines (3-3), who also got five points from Ava Marino and two from Kristen Hall.

Both teams are in action Thursday, hosting Asheville Christian Academy, with girls play beginning at 4:30 p.m.
