Polk Middle announces practice, tryout schedules for fall sports

Polk County Middle School has announced plans for the start of the 2017 fall sports season.

Students in grades 6-8 are eligible to participate in cross country, soccer and volleyball. Students in grades 7-8 are eligible to participate in football.

Athletes must have a current sport physical before they can try out or practice for any sport. Sports physicals are good for one year. In addition, parents and athletes must complete a concussion information form before participating. Concussion forms and sports physical forms are available at the school office.

CROSS COUNTRY
Practice will begin August 23 at 4 p.m. at the middle school field.

FOOTBALL
Practice will begin August 7 from 8-10:30 a.m. and continue at that time for the week at the middle school field.

BOYS SOCCER
Tryouts will be August 8–10 from 6-8 p.m. and August 11 from 8-10:30 a.m. at the middle school field. There will be player cuts made for the soccer team, so players are expected to be at all days of tryouts as it would provide the best opportunity to make the team.

VOLLEYBALL
Tryouts will be August 14-16 from 9-11 a.m. at the middle school gym. There will be player cuts made for the soccer team, so players are expected to be at all days of tryouts as it would provide the best opportunity to make the team.
