The regular season came to an end Saturday for Polk County Youth Football, with three of its four teams qualifying for postseason play.
Polk County’s 7-8 year-old team took a 7-0 win over the Rutherfordton Raiders to cap a 5-2 season. The Wolverines are seeded third in the playoffs and will face Cherryville on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in G.M. Tennant Stadium.
The 9-10 year-old team defeated Rutherfordton 26-19 to cap an outstanding 6-1 season. The Wolverines are seeded behind Cleveland County, who won a 27-20 decision in the season opener with Polk, and earned a first-round bye.
The 11-12 year-old team finished 4-1 with a 7-6 win over Rutherfordton and earned the top seed for the playoffs.
The 5-6 year-old team dropped a 36-6 decision to Rutherfordton and finished its season with a 2-5 record. The Wolverines just missed a playoff spot.
All first-round games in the league will be played Saturday in G.M. Tennant Stadium. The eight-game schedule will begin at 9 a.m.
