Pickett, Capozzi earn all-tourney honors at wooden bat event

Polk County rising senior Sedric Pickett and rising junior Nick Capozzi earned All-Tournament honors at Perfect Game WWBA National Championship Qualifier events held June 8-13 in Cartersville, Ga.

Playing for Top Prospect Baseball 2019, a collection of players largely from Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina in the 17U field, Pickett hit .333 with two RBI and two runs scored in seven games in the tournament.

Players were only allowed to use wooden bats during the event.

Polk County teammate Evan Rimer also played with Top Prospect 2019, which finished 3-4 in pool play.

Capozzi was part of Top Prospect’s 2020 team, which competed in the 16U field. Top Prospect 2020 finished 4-2-1 in pool play.
