Phipps, Owen earn all-WHC honors; Owen named to Blue-White squad

Polk County’s Clark Phipps and Autumn Owen have been named to the All-Western Highlands Conference basketball teams.

Phipps, a junior, averaged 19 points per game this season for the Wolverines.

Owen, a senior, averaged 16.8 points per game and finished second on Polk County’s all-time girls basketball scoring list, closing her career with 1,148 points.

She has also earned selection to the annual Blue-White All-Star Game that features the top seniors in Western North Carolina. The game is set for March 17 at Enka High School with the girls game at 6 p.m. and the boys game to follow.
