PCHS girls basketball roundup: Varsity falls to Landrum, JVs earn win

Landrum improved its record to 8-0 on Friday with a 66-50 win over Polk County in a non-conference girls basketball battle in Landrum.

The Cardinals got 21 points from Sarah Price and 17 points from Ellen Boatwright in completing a season sweep of Polk County (1-7).

Autumn Owen led the Wolverines with 28 points and seven rebounds. Ansley Lynch added 12 points and five rebounds.

Mariah Overholt scored five points, Sara Muse had three and Bella Marino finished with two.

Polk County is scheduled to host Chase on Monday in non-conference play.

POLK JV GIRLS WIN: Polk County overcame a slow start to earn a 26-19 win over Landrum on Friday.

The Wolverines (4-1) led just 8-4 at halftime after holding the Cardinals scoreless in the second period. Polk built the lead to 18-8 entering the final quarter.

Marissa Twitty had seven points to lead Polk, with Kiri Ashley scoring six, Hannah Jenne scoring four, Emmie McDowell finishing with three and Savannah Parris, Anna McFadden and Makayla Staley each scoring two
