NCHSAA adds O’Brien to state indoor track record book
The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has officially recognized Hanna O’Brien’s record-setting time in the adaptive 55-meter dash at this year’s state 2A/1A indoor track championships.
The first female adaptive athlete in state history to compete in the indoor meet, O’Brien, a Polk County senior, posted a time of 9.27 to establish the record for the event.
The Wolverines also set a state record this year in the boys 4×800-meter relay and now own four indoor track state records. Karen Godlock set the two-mile run record in 1992 (11:15.1) and the one-mile run record in 1993 (5:09:12), both in events that are no longer contested.
