Hendersonville Middle nips Polk girls in division showdown

Polk County Middle's Sara Muse had four points in Wednesday's loss.

Hendersonville Middle School denied Polk County Middle’s shot at a division title, handing the Wolverines a 33-29 setback Wednesday in a Blue Ridge Middle School Conference girls basketball showdown in Hendersonville.

The Bearcats (10-1) clinched at least a share of the East Division title with the victory and can win the title outright with a victory on Thursday at Rugby.

Polk County Middle (9-2) can still earn a share of the division title with a win in Thursday’s regular-season finale at home against Flat Rock and a Hendersonville loss.

Olivia Overholt scored seven points to lead Polk Middle, with Marissa Twitty scoring six. Sara Muse and Julia Griffin each added four points, with Kristen Hall, Rachael Davis and Emmie McDowell each scoring two.
