The Florence Freedom recently announced that infielder Danny Fraga will return to the team for the 2016 season.

The former Polk County standout started most of the 2015 season at second base for the Freedom, earning selection to the Frontier League All-Star Game in the process. Fraga hit .284 and led the Freedom in walks (54) and steals (29). He finished second on the team in hits (91), runs (53) and doubles (16).

“Last year, Daniel came in as a rookie and won the starting job after a very competitive camp,” said Florence manager Dennis Pelfrey. “He eventually grew into the leadoff spot and was a spark plug for us at the top of the lineup last year.”

Florence opens its 2016 season on May 13, hosting the Windy City Thunderbolts.
