Defense helps Polk Middle end Hendersonville’s undefeated run

Polk County Middle head coach Michelle Fagan has the Wolverines off to a 4-1 start this season.

Polk County Middle turned to its defense on Monday to take down previously undefeated Hendersonville Middle School.

The Wolverines held Hendersonville to just 13 points en route to a 24-13 win in a Blue Ridge Middle School Conference girls basketball matchup at Polk Middle.

Olivia Overholt scored eight points and Marissa Twitty added seven as Polk Middle (4-1) moved into a tie for first place in the BRMSC’s East Division. Hendersonville Middle dropped to 4-1.

“I was proud of our defense only allowing 13 points, because they are a team averaging just under 40 points per game,” said Polk Middle head coach Michalle Fagan.

Also scoring for Polk Middle were Kristen Hall with four points, Sara Muse with three and Rachael Davis with two.

The Wolverines wrap up their pre-holiday schedule on Thursday, traveling to Flat Rock Middle.
