North Buncombe overcame Autumn Owen’s 30-point effort Wednesday to hand Polk County a 67-49 defeat in a non-conference girls basketball clash in Weaverville.

Owen added six rebounds for Polk County (1-6).

Ansley Lynch finished with nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Wolverines. Bella Marino added four points, with Sara Muse and Mariah Overholt each scoring two and Taylor Newton and Julia Griffin finishing with one.

Polk County continues its pre-Christmas schedule on Friday, traveling to Landrum.

PCMS TOPS HENDERSONVILLE: Solid free throw shooting down the stretch helped Polk County Middle’s girls basketball team hand Hendersonville Middle a 31-27 defeat on Monday.

Olivia Overholt had 18 points to lead Polk Middle, with Tori Thompson scoring eight, Sara Wilson and Caroline Taylor each finishing with two and Lauren Dotson adding one.

Polk Middle (4-1) hosts Flat Rock on Thursday.
