Apple Valley snaps Polk Middle winning streak in straight-set win

Apple Valley Middle snapped Polk County Middle’s two-match winning streak on Tuesday, handing the Wolverines a 2-0 loss in Blue Ridge Conference volleyball action in Hendersonville.

The Knights earned a 25-13, 25-20 victory, dropping Polk Middle to 2-4 on the season.

After dropping the first set, the Wolverines pulled out to a 9-7 lead in the second, only to see Apple Valley scored seven straight points for a 14-9 edge. Adair Edwards helped pull Polk Middle within three with a service run, but that would be as close as the Wolverines would get.

In fifth quarter play, the serving of Anslee Kilgore, Brianna Powell and Caroline Taylor helped Polk Middle rally from a 10-2 deficit for a 25-19 victory.

The Wolverines host Waynesville Middle on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
